First Appointment:

New patients will be scheduled to see Dr. Bartnik for a review of medical and dental histories and any current problems or concerns. A thorough examination including oral cancer screening is then performed. During this examination, the gums, bone, teeth, tongue, and joints are evaluated and all findings are charted. Patients are welcome to watch through a mirror while we do the examination. Further, where necessary, we will take diagnostic x-rays to help us in our evaluation of the existing conditions in the mouth, such as gum and bone disease, symptomatic & asymptomatic, abscessed teeth, decay on the sides of teeth, impacted teeth, status of old fillings, presence of cysts or tumors, etc. Impressions may be taken of the teeth so that diagnostic/study models can be made to help evaluate the teeth and the bite.

With the information obtained from the examination, we can more accurately access your Dental needs and recommend a treatment that will allow you to achieve optimum Dental and Oral health.

At the end of this examination, any urgent dental problems may be treated.

At the conclusion of this appointment, the patient will be scheduled for a consultation visit if needed, to discuss recommended treatment. If no immediate dental treatment is necessary and if there is no active periodontal disease to treat, a cleaning can be performed at this initial appointment.

First Visits for Children:

We begin seeing children at the age of three. The child's first visits are kept short in order to provide a positive experience. A child is never forced to do anything he or she does not want and, as always, the parents are welcome to stay with the child during the treatment.

Consultation Appointments
(when or if needed)
At this visit (usually 1/2 hour or less), we will discuss with you and any significant others (husbands, wives, etc.) our recommendations for treatment. X-rays, models, and the charted conditions in the mouth are reviewed, so you are aware of the conditions that exist in your mouth. Once these conditions are discussed, we will present our recommendations for restoring your mouth so you can enjoy a pain-free bite and healthy attractive smile.

An estimate of the fee for any recommended treatment will be given. Payments and Finances can then be discussed with our Business Assistant once your questions are answered.

Recare- Once you have started on the road to good oral health, you will need to be monitored with re-examinations and cleanings at periodic intervals (3-6 months) depending on your needs. A re-examination system is set up to help assist you maintain good oral health for years to come.
